NEEXT, the start-up based in Belfort specializing in energy system optimization, and INVENTEC PERFORMANCE CHEMICALS, a subsidiary of the DEHON Group and a specialist in performance chemistry, announce the signing of two contracts for the physico-chemical and thermodynamic characterization of NEEXT’s patented reactive fluids. This agreement marks a structuring step in NEEXT’s development, laying the first experimental cornerstone for the industrial validation of its technology.
Final step before NEEXT’s first pilot installations
Through its two R&D programs, SPARTA and REVOLT, NEEXT is developing a groundbreaking innovation based on new patented working fluids, referred to as reactive fluids. These fluids stem from research conducted at the Laboratory of Reactions and Process Engineering (LRGP) in partnership with CNRS and the University of Lorraine. NEEXT holds an exclusive global license for all applications of these fluids, which aim to revolutionize the efficiency of thermodynamic cycles, whether for heat-to-power conversion or heat pumps.
To design its pilot installations and advance toward industrial demonstration, NEEXT must experimentally characterize the physico-chemical and thermodynamic properties of its candidate reactive fluids. Several dozen fluids are already under study, as each targeted application may require a specific fluid. This is the context in which the partnership with INVENTEC PERFORMANCE CHEMICALS has been established.
A multi-year partnership
Under these two contracts, which span several years, INVENTEC PERFORMANCE CHEMICALS will leverage its expertise in applied chemistry and fluid characterization to support NEEXT. At its laboratories in Bry-sur-Marne, the work will focus on:
- Measurement and validation using methods such as TGA (thermogravimetric analysis) and DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) to confirm the thermodynamic and chemical properties of candidate reactive fluids, validate their performance and ensure their proper use for targeted applications.
- Risk analysis and fluid compatibility with materials to guide the design of custom equipment and, for existing installations, recommend the most suitable fluid for each situation.
- Synthesis processes and industrialization of reactive fluids that are not yet commercially available, taking into account economic and environmental criteria aligned with NEEXT’s decarbonization goals.
